- What is Flexicode™?
- Developed by ElectionsOnline, Flexicode™ is an innovative method for developing
computer code so that single blocks of code may be reused across
multiple
election systems
without
modification. On its own, Flexicode™ is unaware of the positions
being contested and the candidates contesting them, but when referenced
from within a voting system, Flexicode™ determines those things
and performs without fail.
- Why is Flexicode™ better than other methods?
- Superior reliability. Not all election systems are created equal, and not all systems have Flexicode’s track record of reliability. As stated above, Flexicode™ on its own is
unaware of positions and candidates. The alternative
is to write blocks of code that do know those things autonomous of the systems
in which
they are used. This is a bad approach because it requires a human to manually
program that
code
from one election to the next which
inevitably
results
in mistakes. Flexicode™ however is written once, tested
rigorously and put into use across multiple elections without requiring
further
human
modification so all ElectionsOnline clients
benefit from proven, reliable code.
